Nicolas' Portfolio and Bio
Nicolas Callens was born in 1983 in Tourcoing in northern France. After studying graphic design in CEPRECO,
he specialized later in the UX design, and manages a creative team in a video game company localized in Roubaix.
He loves nature and trails.
Nicolas started photography by capturing his first passion: rollerblading and buddies.
He founded with friends the Frenchyfries community: a web site recognized in rollerblading
as a visual and journalism reference in Europe.
His Winterclash photos are published in 2013 by Clack Mag.
Delighted by film photography, he took night classes for two years at the Arts Centre Plastic and Visual Lille
to increase his knowledge of photographic development.
Now, Nicolas photographs the streets , as he sees it, raw and without artifice.
Nicolas' simple observation of lines and curves has its own flavor without fitting into any particular genre.
It is sometimes minimalist, sometimes geometric and sometimes street photography but not as strict.
He just does his own thing without worrying about fitting into a category and accomplishes
a soft natural look of his surroundings which one can relate to.
He does tend to favor a sort of methodical order in his captures.
