Samuel's Portfolio and Bio
Samuel Ma was born in 1983 in Hong Kong. He also grew up there and still lives in this " intense cite", as he calls it.
Samuel works in an office and leads a very a simple life but his camera is always with him.
"I never stop observing and capturing every moment of real life. Black and white and film pictures
are important tools for me to deliver and describe this tired life. I believe that the best street photography is
when you deeply and truly live an urban life, follow your mind and just press the shutter."
Samuel has a great architectural eye for expressive stark buildings telling stories of a lonely city.
With the same eye he observes these buildings he also sees the people of Hong Kong as most of Samuel's photographs
capture the loneliness and detachment of a city inhabiting 7 million people.
It's simple and frank photography by an amature photographer with a film camera shooting daily life.
For me that's the best way to receive a genuine picture of a faraway place.
